Although OPPO is still not a famous brand in Europe, it is one of the world largest smartphones manufacturers. The Chinese brand owes much of its fame to its innovative devices, but sometimes it’s not easy to choose which smartphone to buy, that’s why we decided to draw up this list: here’s the best OPPO smartphones divided by category.
Best camera: OPPO Reno 10x Zoom
Thanks to its versatile but powerful camera, elegant design, good hardware and also available with 5G modem, Reno 10x Zoom is the ultimate proof that OPPO has absolutely nothing to envy to the big names in the industry. This device was presented in Zurich at the end of April 2019 and officially launched in June at 799 euros.
The design of OPPO Reno 10x Zoom is extremely accurate in every detail. The back has an opaque glass that houses in the center the majestic camera setup which hosts a 48MP main sensor, followed by an ultra wide-angle sensor and the periscopic telephoto lens, able to reach 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom “loss-less” and digital zoom up to 60x.
The front, protected by Gorilla Glass 6, shows the beautiful 6.6-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a high screen-body ratio (over 90%). As you may have guessed, the frames are incredibly thin, a result made possible by two special features: a front camera positioned in the pop-up shark fin mechanism and an optical fingerprint sensor placed under the display.
Under the hood, OPPO Reno 10x Zoom hides the SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage expandable via microSD cards. Android Pie manages the software with the latest version of the manufacturer’s custom skin, the ColorOS 6.
Best battery: OPPO Reno 2
OPPO just launched its new Reno 2 series smartphones lineup in India on August 28. Reno 2 comes with a quad-camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary shooter. The other cameras in the quad-camera setup include a 13-megapixel secondary camera, an 8-megapixel shooter, and 2-megapixel camera. The Reno 2 comes with 5x hybrid zoom support and 20x digital zoom.
The phone also includes an Ultra Night Mode to help with low-light photography, a portrait mode, and a macro mode. Among the video recording enhancements, Oppo has added Ultra Steady mode with optical as well as electronic image stabilisation. Reno 2 will offer 5x hybrid zoom during the video recording mode as well.
According to Abraham, the Oppo Reno 2 uses a 3D curved Gorilla Glass on the back and features rounded corners. It will be offered in Ocean Blue and Luminous Black colours. On the front, the phone packs a 6.55-inch dynamic AMOLED screen with full-HD+ resolution, and a screen-to-body ratio of 93.1 percent with a 6th Generation Corning Gorilla Glass on top.
Reno 2 keeps the Shark-fin selfie camera from its predecessor and includes a 16-megapixel front shooter. The phone is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC, paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. For making the gaming experience on the Reno 2 better, OPPO has also included features like TouchBoost, FrameBoost, and GameBoost.
OPPO Reno 2 packs a 4.000mAh battery with VOOC 3.0 fast charging support and USB Type-C port. The phone runs on Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6.1 on top.
Best charging speed: OPPO RX17 Pro
RX17 Pro is one of the best OPPO smartphones, full of significant features and interesting technology. It is a smartphone that offers excellent performance, a triple rear camera that behaves well even in low light conditions and a battery that can support 50 watt SuperVOOC technology. This allows the RX17 Pro to fully charge in about 30 minutes.
It is also a premium device from a hardware point of view, thanks to a splendid 6.4-inch display with FHD+ resolution, 128GB of internal memory, facial recognition and NFC module for contactless payments. You can buy the OPPO RX17 Pro at about 500 euros.
Best design: OPPO Find X
With a screen/body ratio of almost 94%, OPPO Find X is without any doubt the Chinese manufacturer’s masterpiece smartphone. Here again no notches or holes in the display, but only a beautiful AMOLED panel without edges, an objective achieved by hiding all cameras inside the body of the phone.
These are able to appear automatically in about half a second via a mechanical system only when necessary. The rear camera of the Find X can take good pictures in most lighting conditions. Other key features include a SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, 256GB of internal memory, 3D facial recognition and excellent battery life.
The price? Still pretty high: about 800 euros!
The cheapest: OPPO AX7
OPPO AX7 is a smartphone dedicated to less demanding users who don’t want to spend so much to ruin them. However, despite its price not exceeding 250 euros, the AX7 seems anything but cheap. Among its best qualities we can find a battery that can easily exceed two days, a good 6.2-inch display with HD+ resolution, 64GB of expandable internal memory, facial recognition and a fingerprint reader on the back.
If you are looking for a cheap but well built and stylish smartphone, OPPO AX7 may be the right choice for you.
