ColorOS 6: all the new features you need to know

16 August 2019

With ColorOS 6, OPPO has made great strides in the development of its operating system, increasing performance and optimizing at best all types of interaction, all within a renewed interface with new features, based on Android Pie. Here’s all you need to know about ColorOS 6!

Design and icons

Designed to take advantage of every corner of the screen, ColorOS 6 adopts the use of light and elegant shaded colors, with an interface that strongly focuses on the design of empty spaces, cultivating a design language unique in the era of smartphones with borderless displays. As for the icons, from ColorOS 5.0, through ColorOS 5.2, to the current ColorOS 6, they have been redesigned with a circular appearance, elevating the concept of “Infinite Design” by OPPO.

Wallpapers and animations

All the backgrounds in the new version of ColorOS were created in collaboration with the German digital art studio, Studio ANF, which created a wide range of backgrounds influenced by the power of nature, both through artificial intelligence and human interaction. In addition, the software can recreate over 3500 animations to make the user experience more comfortable and elegant. Finally, thanks to the new design it also obtains a more fluid visual effect.

Performance and gaming

ColorOS 6 comes with Game Boost 2.0, which includes the core technologies of Touch Boost and Frame Boost for an uninterrupted gaming experience. Game Space also offers a brand new visual interaction that allows users a more immersive gaming experience. High-performance mode, balanced mode and low-power mode are all choices to best customize your gaming sessions.

New gestures and App Drawer

ColorOS 6 supports Android Pie gestures, but OPPO also provides its own solution, including the ability to activate on-screen virtual keys. Of course, we recommend using gestures, since this way you’ll maximize on-screen content and enjoy the best user experience.

Also, for the first time ever, ColorOS 6 has introduced the App Drawer, dedicated to lovers of order, but also convenient for quickly locating apps. Users will now be able to create their own custom main screen by selecting the most frequently used apps.
