OPPO is the first company to support Google’s CameraX

11 September 2019

OPPO has just announced that it is now part of the companies supporting Google’s CameraX, the new library of Android Jetpack support for developing camera apps. The debut took place during a keynote at the Google Developer Days China 2019 in Shanghai: the photo and image features of OPPO and CameraX were shown with a Reno 10x Zoom. At the event, OPPO and Google also announced the full range of OPPO smartphones that will support the new solution.

Google’s CameraX, an Android-based solution that allows developers to take advantage of camera experiences and features from each device’s native app, will be supported by a line of OPPO devices, including OPPO Reno 10x Zoom and the latest OPPO Reno2.

Through the integration of CameraX on OPPO smartphones, developers can now draw on OPPO’s core image and photo technologies by applying just two lines of code. Without the need for device-specific code, devices that support CameraX will also allow developers to use OPPO’s cutting-edge HDR and Beauty features to improve their experiences with the app.

“OPPO is always committed to creating better user experiences with innovative products for our users around the world. We are pleased to partner with Google CameraX to empower developers, build a healthy, open ecosystem, and explore more solutions in photo and image technologies” said Andy Wu, vice president of software engineering at OPPO. “We look forward to continuing to lead the development of the most innovative apps in the age of intelligent connectivity and create a better life for our users around the world”.

OPPO is a pioneer of the CameraX library

As one of the first to adopt CameraX, OPPO has opened its innovative imaging technology to all developers, allowing them to better customize their app experiences for OPPO users. At GDD China 2019, OPPO demonstrated new features live on its Reno 10x Zoom smartphones and invited visitors to the OPPO booth to test smartphones with and without CameraX through CameraX Basic, resulting in a significant increase in photo quality.

Using the app, participants were also able to take advantage of OPPO’s advanced camera features such as Beauty Mode and HDR to take outstanding, high-quality photos.
